Rehabilitation Services
Promontory Point Rehabilitation provides comprehensive physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapy services. Our goal is to help each patient get back to living an independent life.
Physical therapists work with patients along with other members of the treatment team in order to:
- Improve mobility following a joint replacement
- Increase balance and walking skills
- Increase flexibility and strength
- Decrease pain
- And, provide education for patient and family members
Occupational therapists are critical members of the PPR team. They work in conjunction with physical therapists and the nursing staff and focus on improving the daily living skills of each patient:
- Dressing after surgery or illness
- Grooming
- Personal hygiene
- Toileting, bathing and showering
- Light meal preparation
- Sustaining interest in life
Frequently after a stroke, patients may suffer from speech, language, swallowing and related disorders. Speech pathologists work with patients, their family, their physician, nursing staff and the dietician to help each patient with the following:
- Speech and language skills
- Expressing thoughts both verbally and in writing
- Understanding both written and verbal language
- Chewing and swallowing
- Cognition, organization and memory
- Voice control
